For Investors
Are you an investor looking to fuel the next generation of Ugandan startups? Join our collective of Africa focused investors and be part of a sustainable ecosystem driving innovation and economic growth.
Get it done. We value moving fast and achieving tangible results over aiming for perfection.
Test, fail, repeat. We embrace failure as a learning opportunity to iterate and improve quickly.
Move fast, adapt faster. Speed is a competitive advantage in the startup world.
Own the outcome. Every founder is responsible for the success of their startup.
Embrace the grind. We value the ability to push through challenges with determination.
Tatu Collective is open to early-stage, tech-enabled startups that have at least a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) ready. We focus on teams with founders aged 26 and below, though exceptions can be made for exceptional cases.
We focus on tech-enabled startups across various industries, including software, fintech, hardware, and social impact. We are particularly interested in startups that use technology to solve significant challenges.
The program lasts for 3 months, during which startups receive highly curated support, mentorship, and access to funding.
While Tatu Collective primarily focuses on Ugandan startups, we are open to other East African startups willing to relocate to our hub for the duration of the program.
Startups can apply through our online application form available on the website. Simply fill out the required information about your team, product, and market.
Once you apply, our team will review your application based on key criteria such as product readiness, team composition, and market potential. Shortlisted startups will be invited for interviews, which include a product demo.
You'll need to provide details about your team, business plan, product (MVP), and any traction or market validation you have achieved.
Startups typically receive between $15,000 and $25,000 in funding through a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity).
A SAFE agreement is a type of investment contract where the investment converts into equity at a later funding round. This allows us to invest in your startup now without setting a valuation until you raise your next round of funding.
Tatu Collective invests in startups through a SAFE agreement, meaning we do not take equity immediately. Equity is granted at a later funding round, usually after the program, based on the agreement's terms.
Our mentors include successful entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts who will provide hands-on support, including one-on-one mentorship and group workshops. They will guide you through product development, scaling, and investment readiness.
You will meet with your assigned mentors regularly, including weekly one-on-one sessions and bi-weekly group mentorship meetings.
Investors interested in joining the Tatu Collective can get in touch with us via our contact page or attend one of our investor information sessions. We welcome Africa focused investors who want to support Uganda's next wave of startups.
As part of our investor collective, you'll gain access to early-stage startups with high growth potential. You'll also collaborate with other Africa focused investors, share expertise, and contribute to building a sustainable ecosystem that reinvests returns into future startups.
While returns vary depending on each startup's success, our model focuses on long-term growth and scaling, giving investors access to high-potential returns through future funding rounds and exits.
